The weekend of the 21st and 22nd of September 2019 marked the final weekend of Masses from Canon Pat. After 10 years of being Parish Priest at St Therese of Lisieux, he is moving to Thirsk to lead the parish there.

Canon Patrick Hartnett at leaving Mass

The parish held a special Mass on Friday evening which was followed by a party and was well attended by parishioners.

During the homily, Canon Pat reflected on his time in the parish. The great successes and achievements that occurred during this time, in particular, the building of our parish church.

He talked about the privilege of sharing in the faith journey of many parishioners, whether that be in sacramental celebrations including Baptism and First communion but also in the daily sharing of life in the faith.

He talked about feeling sad at leaving the parish in Ingleby Barwick but also looking forward to the new challenge in a new parish.

The parish will now be lead by Canon Alan Sheridan who returns for a second time to the parish.
