Dull and dreary weather on Saturday the 20th of June did not get in the way of a wonderful celebration for 30 of our young parishioners who celebrated receiving their First Holy Communion. After completing the preparation course over the past 9 months the children, their families and friends filled Christ the King Church in Thornaby.

Fr. Pat and Deacon David led the celebration and readings and prayers were read by catechists, teachers and children from St Therese of Lisieux Primary School. Children from St Therese sang solo’s and as a choir with backing from the guitar.

It was an uplifting and memorable occasion for the children and they completed their celebration with a buffet afterwards in the church hall.
