Very Rev. Canon Alan Sheridan

Canon Alan was born in South Bank, Middlesbrough. His parents are from South Bank and Grangetown. He was raised in Grangetown, studying at St. Peter's Comprehensive and St. Mary's Sixth Form.

He read Hispanic Studies at Liverpool University, before gaining a PGCE at Leeds Trinity University.

Canon Alan spent a year at St Monica's Youth Centre for Leeds Diocese, before studying for the priesthood at the Venerable English College in Rome. He was ordained in 1991 at St. Andrews, Teesville.

He has held the following positions:

  • Curate at St. Francis, Acklam (1991-1997)
  • Parish Priest St. Patrick's, Thornaby (1997-2001)
  • Chancellor and Judicial Vicar of the Middlesbrough Diocese (1997-2012)
  • Parish Priest St. Therese, Ingleby Barwick (2001-2009)
  • Parish Priest St. George's, York (2009-2019)
  • Parish Priest St. Therese, Ingleby Barwick (2019-)
Very Rev. Canon Patrick Hartnett

Canon Pat was born in Middlesbrough. His father was from Dublin and was brought to Middlesbrough to play for Middlesbrough F.C.

Canon Pat trained for the priesthood at St. Patrick’s College, Thurles, Tipperary, Ireland. He was ordained at St. Joseph’s Church, Middlesbrough on 15th June 1979.

He left our parish in October 2019.

Fr. Terry Dougherty

Fr. Terry Dougherty was the inagural Parish Priest at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish.

He joined in the early 1990s, and was replaced by Canon Alan Sheridan in 2001.
