Reflection on the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

READINGS AND HEADINGS:

Joshua 24: 1-2, 15-18We will serve the Lord, for He is our God.

Psalm 33Taste and see that the Lord is good

Ephesians 5: 21-32This mystery has many implications for Christ and His Church

John 6: 60-69Who shall we go to? You have the message of eternal life

REFLECTION:

Lord, who shall we go to? Peter’s question is one that echoes down the history of the Church. Where else can we find answers? Who else has the capacity to fill our hearts and fill the emptiness we often find there? We need to keep making conscious efforts to return to the Lord. It is very easy to find ourselves drifting away – either because of some big challenge, something we find difficult to accept or just because we have lost the time and the habit.  There is literally no one else to whom we SHOULD go. Christ has the answers. We find Him again in our Eucharist.
