Reflection on the 18th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Exodus 16: 2 -4, 12 – 15I will rain down bread for you from the heavens

Psalm 77The Lord gave them bread from heaven

Ephesians 4: 17, 20 -24Put on the new self that has been created in God’s way.

John 6: 24 -35He who comes to me will never be hungry; he who believes in me will never thirst

REFLECTION:

The connection between the miracle of the loaves and the fishes and the Eucharist is much more explicit this week. Jesus will feed us with food that endures eternal life. The manna, the food of Elijah, even the loaves and fishes could not do this. Only Jesus provides this food – He Himself IS this food. Feed us, Lord Jesus!
