Light for the World and Salt for the Earth

Todays Gospel reading is from Matthew 5:13-16. It is part of the Gospel known as the Sermon on the mount and is a rallying call for Christians to become active members of the faith.

If people were looking at us from the outside, how would they know we were Christians?

What sets us apart from everybody else?

They should know because we are called to be light for the world and salt for the earth. There is a famous old saying, “If you were arrested for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?”

Our actions must speak as loudly, if not more so, than our words. Or our faith is dead.
