We are delighted to be able to start up our Sacramental preparation programmes. As things are still uncertain regarding COVID we plan to complete last years delayed group and this years group before the end of Summer. This will make it feel like quite a rush but it gives us the best chance of allowing our children to celebrate the sacrament.
Last year’s group (Current Year 5)
Although several of our current year 5’s have made received the Sacrament of the Eucharist already we still have 10 who are yet to receive. It has been over a year now since they made their First Confession and it would seem best if they make a further Act of Confession prior to receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist. I propose hearing confessions at 2 pm on Saturday the 5th of June and to celebrate Holy Communions at 10 am on 19th June.
Our catechists will be giving a refresher preparation session to the children after school on Wednesday the 9th of June.
If you are unable to make these dates then the children will have to make their First Holy Communion’s during an ordinary parish Sunday Mass. I apologise for the limited options but it is almost a logistical impossibility to fit everything in.
This year’s group (Current Year 4)
Due to current restrictions on numbers and our wish to enable you to bring as many family members along to the celebrations as possible, both the preparation and celebration will take place in two groups. Preparation will take place in Church on Thursdays at 6.15 pm and Fridays at 6 pm. There will be preparation for the Children with our Catechists and for parents with Canon Alan.
Irene has already worked with parents via the WhatsApp group to ensure you can attend the sessions. The remaining sessions are:
JUNE
- 10/11
- 17/18
- 24/25
JULY
- 1/2
- 8/9
There will be 2 sessions for First Confessions on 4th July at 2 pm and 3 pm.
Holy Communion celebrations will take place on Saturdays 10 & 17 July at 10 am
