Our Parish organised an open day event to encourage visitors from our local community and further afield to ‘Come and See’ our Church on the Feast of St Therese of Lisieux on Saturday 1 October 2016.

Visitors were welcomed by a group of parishioners and were encouraged to light a candle and say a prayer for their intentions. The catechist group had set up a number of Prayer Stations around the church with information for visitors about the features of the church and their meaning. St Therese of Lisieux school generously provided flowers for this special Feast Day which certainly showed the church off at it’s best. All visitors were invited to share in some refreshments and were given a card with our parish prayer and picture of our parish patron.
The event was very successful with over 100 people visiting the church with many of those promising to return in the future. We hope this will be the first of many future events for the wider community.

The parish wishes to thank the Diocesan Parish Evangelisation Fund for contributing towards the running costs including an outdoor sign which we used to entice those passing by the church to drop in and visit. Thank you to all parishioners who particpated both on the day and in the preparation of the event. Thank you also to Rev. Vincent Purcell, Diocesan Adult Formation Co-ordinator who attended on the day and even helped out at a Baptism preparation course which was going on at the same time. Visitors donated £92 which will be split between CAFOD and St Vincent de Paul Society.

It is wonderful to witness a new young community of faith in action.
