Following guidance released by the UK Government and the Diocese of Middlesbrough we are pleased to announce that the church will be open for private prayer from Monday the 15th June.

As in many aspects of life at the moment, your experience in Church is likely to be very different to how you last remembered. In order to reduce the risk of transmitting Coronavirus, we have made changes to the layout of the church to enable adequate social distancing.

The church will be open at the following times:

Monday to Friday – 10:30 am until 12:30 pm

Friday – 5 pm until 7 pm

Saturday and Sunday 3 pm until 5 pm

You are asked not to attend if you have symptoms which could be consistent with Coronavirus infection.

We are able to accommodate a maximum of 24 parishioners at a time. If more parishioners do attend you will be asked to queue outside while maintaining social distancing. On entering the church you will be greeted by a safety warden who will ask you to apply the sanitiser gel and you will be directed to the seating area.

There is a ‘one-way system’ in place in the church which is clearly signposted. A safety warden will be available to guide you if required. There will be no facility to venerate any of the statues or light candles and we would ask you only to touch the seating area you have been directed to in order to help with church cleaning.

We can assure parishioners that deep cleans have taken place and a strict cleaning plan is in place to reduce risk of transmission.

We hope to be able to extend the opening times to include weekends and evenings. We will need more volunteers for this to happen as we need two Safety Wardens on duty to ensure the safety of parishioners and visitors. If you would be able to spare some time then please contact us and we will be in touch.
