The importance of the Power of God

Today’s first reading teaches us the importance on relying on the power of God at work in our lives. King Ahaz was reprimanded for relying on a political solution for the survival of God’s people. The prophet Isaiah gave him a sign which we realize is fulfilled in the birth of Jesus. Do we put our trust in God who assures he is with us for all time? As we come to celebrate the sacred mysteries in Mass may we understand that as the bread and wine are presented to be transformed into Christ’s Body and Blood so too our lives can be transformed if we offer our life with the bread and wine. Jesus is our Emmanuel, God with us.
